How to Use
How to use Double-click JRC CSV to Furuno XML Converter.exe Click “Select CSV File(s)” Choose one or more JRC User Map .csv files (Optional) Click “Select Output Folder” If not selected, output will be saved in the same folder as the CSV Click “Convert” Wait for the message “Conversion completed” That’s it. For each CSV file, the program will create: One or more *_Converted_Furuno_PartX.xml files A conversion log: *_Converted_Furuno_log.txt (If applicable) a skipped lines log: *_SkippedLines_log.txt
Notes
Notes Furuno has restrictions on number of Data points each usermap is permitted to have. The number is 300. So adding a margin of safety, this program will limit each Usermap to a maximum of 290 Points. So if the source Usermap is very large i.e. JRC CSV limitations is 5000 points, it will be split into multiple parts. Each part is sequentially numbered so it’s a good idea to rename it before loading onto ECDIS. Most of the exported Usermaps would be in UCHM format. Unfortunately, this is a proprietary format and is only readable with a JRC ECDIS. Hence if your User Maps are in UCHM format, this program will not work for you. If you are on a JRC ECDIS Ship, I would recommend that you load them to ECDIS and keep it converted to CSV and keep. It would be helpful when you move to a ship with Furuno ECDIS. If something does not convert, check the log files first. JRC has a large number of UserMap objects that does not have an equivalent in Furuno. A Good example is Square or Triangle Symbols. Hence this program will only convert Text and Lines. If they are marked as Alarmable then depending on how its in source file, it may be marked with Danger Attribute in Furuno. Everything that is skipped will be mentioned in the log files created. To avoid data corruption risk, anything that is slightly off would be immediately skipped. How to convert User Chart to CSV on JRC ECDIS In User Chart File operation Menu, Click on Export and choose CSV. I have been testing it and improving it over a period of 6 months and hence I don’t think you will find any bugs. If you do, Let me know and I will correct them. Developed by Tom G Alex
