The Royal Navy in old photographs

Year: 1975
Language: English
Author: W. P Trotter
Genre: Historical
Publisher: Naval Institute Press
Format: PDF
Quality: Scanned pages
Pages count: 184
Description: A simply wonderful cornucopia of images to disappear into, dating from the 1840s to just prior to the first world war. The captions are great and the photographs themselves are mostly of extraordinary quality given the time they were taken. More than anything however, the breadth of subjects captured makes this book stand apart from many picture books about the Royal Navy, and the sailors and officers themselves are often the focus, though rarely posed in pristine uniforms, but rather shown at their work.
