Description: Maritime law is also known as admiralty law or admiralty. It refers to the set of legal rules that govern ships and shipping.
English-speaking countries sometimes use "admiralty" synonymously. However, in a strictly legal sense, the term refers only to the jurisdiction and procedural laws of courts whose origins can be traced back to the office of the Admiral. Ethically maritime law and law of the sea are the same, but the former is used to refer to private shipping law. The latter, which is usually prefixed with "international," has been used to indicate the maritime section of international public law. The UN Convention on the Law of the Sea is an agreement concerning territorial waters, sea lanes and ocean resources. Original signatures of the Convention were made by 119 countries on December 10, 1982
