It contains all the information about lighthouses, airlights, boat lighthouses, lighthouses, light buoys and particular lights or aerial obstacles that are of interest to navigators, existing on the coast, in the rivers, in the lagoons and on the islands of the Brazil, as well as on the coasts and islands of foreign countries that have their lands represented on Brazilian nautical charts. As of the 30th edition, the List of Lighthouses now has photographs of the lighthouses and lighthouses listed, as one more element for their identification. From 2010 onwards, this publication became a periodical, published biennially, and bound in a paperback. As of 2018, some structures with fixed yellow lights were removed from the List of Lighthouses, in compliance with the AISM/IALA Recommendation, as they do not fit the definition of "Nautical Sign". In the interest of navigation safety, navigators are requested to inform the Navy Hydrography Center (CHM) of any irregularities in the operation of nautical signaling, as well as any omissions or inaccuracies found in this List of Lighthouses. The efficiency of this publication will be considerably increased if all navigators cooperate.
